Always Your Knight

Shame had befriended lost self-esteem,
Long before a woman could stand up tall,
We slouch away our dreams when instead could start clean,
I deserve no such joy and compassion from another,

Why bother to believe that someone could fancy,
A mere shell am I washing up against the shore,
The ocean has grown tired of my fantasy,
Yet still somehow he lays his hand upon me,
Holds me as his treasure ever so gently,

If anything were to stir a near he would not rest,
Only once peace and tranquility would return,
With his armor and sword he would strike down my fears,
Always protecting and loving me no matter the test,

I am free to love and safe from lies as long as I have my knight.
