Equality a Fool's Dream

Are we not programmed from start to finish?
Told how things are done and how we must submit,
As we strive for education living on a wish.
That if we persevere and do not quit,
Then we will bath in wealth and satisfaction.
Yet, only some have the chance to learn,
and even less the ability to earn.
For the less we earn the less we are,
As we rust and fade at society's feet.

We care not for the whole,
And we are too many,
On this tiny spec of reality.
So how is it that we could ever realize equality?

Even I, who feels only to persevere,
Will always be looking up to society.
While society's eyes stare me down,
Filled only with pity.
